Stand Up Paddling
Stand Up Paddling, or SUP, is a variation of surfing using a paddle to move across the water while standing on a super-sized surfboard. SUP originated in the Polynesian Islands. The Hawaiian translation is Ku Hoe He'e Nalu; to stand, to paddle, to surf, a wave. It is the fastest growing sport in the world and provides an incredible tool to get outside and enjoy our big blue planet.
Waves are not required to have a fantastic time on a stand up paddle board. You can paddle on the open ocean, in harbors, on lakes, rivers or any large body of water. One of the advantages of Stand Up Paddling is the angle of visibility. Because of the standing height over the water you’ll see both deeper into the water and further across the surface of the water. We have kayaked for years and we were amazed at how different the view is. Going from a seated position to standing, elevating your perspective just a few feet, makes a huge difference. All we can say is, WOW!
SUP is easy too. It can be learned quickly by just about anyone who can hike, walk or balance. You don't need to know how to surf already.
It’s primitive, classic, soulful, and at the same time ultra-modern. Anyway you view it, SUP is inspiring adventure in all types of paddlers and you gotta check it out. Come get your feet wet with us and you'll see what we mean.
