Stand Up Paddling in Alaska

There is a brand new way to explore the waters of ALASKA.
  • The ocean can get glassy at night
  • We paddleboard in some awesome environments
  • Inflatable paddleboards allow us to run rivers

Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is the fastest growing sport in the world and Liquid Adventures is one of the first companies to offer SUP trips in Alaska. It's been a passion of ours for years and we are stoked to bring it here; to the Last Frontier.

SUP's are an incredible tool to explore this big blue planet and we offer several guided tours including: downwind, down river, flat-water and glacier padddleboard trips; as well as rentals, sales and lessons. Stand Up Paddleboarding is a variation of surfing using a long canoe-style paddle to move across the water while standing on a super-sized surfboard. SUP originated in the Polynesian Islands and the Hawaiian translation is Ku Hoe He'e Nalu; to stand, to paddle, to surf, a wave. But waves are not required to have a fantastic time on a stand up paddleboard. You can paddle on the open ocean, in harbors, on lakes, rivers or any large body of water.

One of the advantages of the SUP boards is the angle of visibility. Because of the standing height over the water you’ll see both deeper into the water and further across the surface of the water. We have kayaked for years and we were amazed at how different the view is. Going from a seated position to standing, elevating your perspective just a few feet, makes a huge difference. All we can say is, WOW! SUP is easy too. No minimum skills are needed and it can be learned quickly by just about anyone who can hike, walk or balance.

This activity is primitive, classic, soulful, and at the same time ultra-modern. Anyway you view it, Stand Up Paddling is inspiring adventure in all types of paddlers and you gotta check it out. Come get your feet wet with us and you'll see what we mean. SUP Alaska!
